When accessing the city bank and having shard dust (only one chaos IV in my case) you can pick it up and quick transfer it to then bank then put it back down in your inventory in the same place giving you two shard dust icons. It duplicates the shard dust but it's not a full duplicate as trying to buy shard packs with the fake shard dust doesn't work.
